Poolife Rapid Shock is a calcium hypochlorite swimming pool shock used to combat algae and bacterial growth. This fast dissolving shock keeps pool water clean and clear with less work. To dose the product directly into the pool, add the recommended 9-16 ounces per 10,000 gallons of water during the evening hours while the filter pump is running. Broadcast the product evenly over a wide area in the deepest part of the pool, and use a brush to disperse any granules that settle to the bottom.
For best results, adjust and maintain the pool's pH in the 7.2 to 7.6 range before treatment. Follow the "Shock Treatment/Superchlorination" directions on the package, allowing 30 minutes for the product to disperse. Test the available chlorine residual with a pool test kit and repeat the treatment as needed.
Every 7 days, or as necessary to prevent pool problems, shock treat or superchlorinate the pool by adding 9-16 ounces of this product per 10,000 gallons of water to provide 5 to 10 ppm available chlorine. Additional shock treatments may be required to correct issues caused by visible algae, high bather loads, heavy wind and rainstorms, unpleasant odors, or eye irritation. Check the available chlorine with a test kit.
The product has a 68% calcium hypochlorite composition, with 32% other ingredients, and a minimum of 65% available chlorine. One pound of the product treats 10,000 gallons of water, and it is available in a 24-pack.
